description In the framework of EUROTeV, the complete design of a new Precision Beam Po- sition Monitor (PBPM) has been carried out. The PBPM is based on the inductive pick-up's presently installed at CTF3 drive beam LINAC. The new monitor aims to achieve a much higher resolution (100 nm) in a narrower frequency bandwidth (from 100 kHz to 30 MHz). In this paper, the design of the PBPM is presented, emphasizing the calculations and electromagnetic simulations done for verification and optimization of the device performance. Finally, a first mechanical assembly of the PBPM is presented.
