description This paper describes the technical specifications of the Optical Multiplexer Board (OMB) 6U prototype. First, the hardware characteristics of this board are detailed as well as a description of the circuits and the components used. Firmware developed to achieve the desired functionality is also described. The tests conducted with the OMB in the TileCal ROD production tasks are also explained. Finally, a preliminary description of the final Optical Multiplexer Board 9U design is included. This design which is currently going on has to work in the ATLAS final experiment at CERN. General specifications at hardware and firmware levels are detailed pointing out especially the differences between the first prototype already tested and the final version.
