LHCb sensitivity to the LFV B $B^0_{d,s}-> e\pm \mu\mp$ decays

We discuss here the LHCb sensitivity to the B0d,s → e±µ∓ decays. These decays are forbidden in the Standard Model, being lepton flavor violating, but are allowed in some of its extensions. In absence of signal, we calculate the 90 % C.L. upper limits to be 1.6 10−8 and 6.5 ·10−8, for B0d...

Sumario:We discuss here the LHCb sensitivity to the B0d,s → e±µ∓ decays. These decays are forbidden in the Standard Model, being lepton flavor violating, but are allowed in some of its extensions. In absence of signal, we calculate the 90 % C.L. upper limits to be 1.6 10−8 and 6.5 ·10−8, for B0d and B0s respectively, in 2 fb−1. These results would improve the limits from present experiments. We discuss the interpretation of these results in the context of the Pati-Salam model, based on the group SU(4)C. This theory predicts the existence of a heavy spin-one gauge boson, the Pati-Salam Leptoquark which mediates the transitions between quarks and leptons. In this framework, the limits on branching fractions can be interpreted as lower limits on the Pati-Salam Leptoquark mass, which are 90·Fdmix TeV and 65·F smix TeV, at 90 % C.L., where the F d,smix are factors taking into account generation mixing within the Pati-Salam Mode.
