description | In a recent paper, L. Carpenter, D. Kaplan and E.-J. Rhee show that minimal supersymmetric standard models with baryon number violation and non-unified gaugino masses have a range of non-excluded parameter space of significant interest in which the Higgs boson mainly decays into a pair of unstable neutralinos, each of which subsequently decays into 3 quarks. The decay length of the neutralino could be long enough to result in displaced vertices. In this work, I investigate the potential to discover the lightest neutralino and the Higgs boson at the LHCb experiment through the detection and the measurement of the displaced vertices. In spite of a limited geometrical acceptance, a significant fraction (~30%) of light Higgs are produced in the LHCb detector. A fast simulation including the relevant effects of the pile-up veto detector has shown that a considerable amount of events would pass the L0 trigger and meet the HLT requirements to be recorded. A very simple algorithm has been designed to demonstrate the feasability of selecting such events out of a dominant background of generic b bbar events. The proof is done by reconstructing the neutralino and the Higgs mass with charged tracks. |
