Sumario: | The 3rd topical CARE-HHH-APD workshop on the LHC luminosity upgrade, LUMI’06, developed novel scenarios for the interaction regions while deprecating a number of previous options, proposed novel sets of beam parameters better tailored to a higher-luminosity LHC, and discussed the supporting upgrades to the CERN accelerator complex, including PS replacement, which may be necessary for boosting the integrated LHC luminosity as well as the peak luminosity. With a substantial participation from the US-LARP, the European and US upgrade activities could successfully be re-aligned and a general consensus emerged on the future steps to be taken. In this paper, we report a few highlights from the LUMI’06 workshop, summarize the final workshop discussion, and list a few key recommendations. |
