A study of D0 -> hh' decays for D0-D0bar mixing measurements
This note presents a method for selecting tagged wrong sign D0 -> pi- K+ + c.c. decays suitable for time-dependent D0--D0bar mixing measurements. The selection has an estimated signal yield of 46500 tagged wrong sign decays D*+ -> pi+ D0(pi- K+) + c.c. per 2 fb^-1, where the D*+ originates fro...

Sumario: | This note presents a method for selecting tagged wrong sign D0 -> pi- K+ + c.c. decays suitable for time-dependent D0--D0bar mixing measurements. The selection has an estimated signal yield of 46500 tagged wrong sign decays D*+ -> pi+ D0(pi- K+) + c.c. per 2 fb^-1, where the D*+ originates from a b-hadron decay. The selection's estimated background to signal ratio is 1.1 < B / S < 5.3 at 90% CL. The same selection has estimated yields of 1.3 million D*+ -> pi+ D0(K- K+) + c.c. and 0.5 million D*+ -> pi+ D0(pi- pi+) + c.c. per 2 fb^-1, where the D*+ originates from a b-hadron decay. The estimated background to signal ratios for these two modes are 0.10 < B / S < 0.35 and 0.16 < B / S < 0.78, respectively, at 90% CL. This note also presents two studies of LHCb's potential sensitivities: one the D0 mixing parameters x'^2 and y'; the other to the mixing parameter y_CP and CP violation parameter A_Gamma. |
