Determination of the relative decay rate $K_{S} \to \pi e \nu$ / $K_{L} \to \pi e \nu$

Sumario: | The decay rate of $K_{S} \to \pi e \nu$ relative to the rate of $K_{L} \to \pi e \nu$ has been measured by the NA48 collaboration in a neutral Kaon beam originating from 400 GeV proton-Be interactions at the CERN SPS. The result is $0.993 \pm 0.026_{stat} \pm 0.022_{syst}$, compatible with 1 in agreement with the Standard Model prediction at tree level. It implies $BR(K_{S} \to\pi e \nu) = (7.05 \pm 0.18_{stat.} \pm 0.16_{syst.}) \times 10^{-4}$. |
