Sumario: | In spite of the difficult conditions under which data were taken, the HARP collaboration has now reached a level of understanding of the detector which has allowed production of results with important impact. Data from the forward spectrometer analysis have been essential for the achievements of accelerator neutrino experiments (K2K and MiniBooNE) and for precise calculations of atmospheric neutrino flux and Extended Air Shower modeling. The large angle data are a valuable input for the choice of proton source energy for the optimization of neutrino factory design. Several publications on physics results have already been issued. DSTs related to all the data settings collected (proton, \pip and \pim beams, all energies and all nuclear targets) have been produced. The corresponding analyses are now completed (in both forward and large angle regions) and a large set of scientific papers is now in preparation. In the large angle data, the extensive use of external benchmarks has allowed a reliable solution to the many problems of the TPC, and systematic production of results with an improved full-spill correction is now achieved. Specific analyses addressing the problems of the re-scattering (thick targets) and kaon production in the forward region, are still underway. They will be completed in the next months. |
