Sumario: | The CMS Tracker is the largest tracker ever built entirely based on silicon detectors. Surrounding the innermost pixel system, strip detectors populate the radial region between 20 and 110 cm, for a total active surface of and almost 10 million readout channels. A complex organization has been put in place to build the detector and qualify in depth all the production and assembly steps, to ensure the delivery of a fully functional tracking system. An overview of the construction and qualification procedures is given, discussing the present status in the final year of the project and the perspectives for the completion of the detector. |
