Sumario:This study is based on data acquired on 2007-08-13 and its aim is to measure the dependence of beam loss on injected bunch distribution and beam intensity. The longitudinal particle distribution was changed in the PS by using the third 80 MHz RF cavity during bunch rotation, resulting in shorter bunches for the same longitudinal emittance. No reduction in losses was observed in the SPS for such "short" bunches. At the same time, more intense beams show significantly increased losses.
