Life after Euclid

After several years of limited production use, CERN's new 3D CAD system CATIA with its design data management system Smarteam is being deployed for general use. The deadline for the declared service with all essential pieces in place is 1.7.2008, i.e. 6 months prior to the shutdown of Euclid service by the end of 2008. While the new service will offer a functional 3D CAD environment for design work already today replicating all the features of the Euclid service and more, possibilities for development go further. CATIA and Smarteam are modern tools which can be used to introduce modern concepts and methodologies into the overall design process. We present the current status of CATIA/Smarteam as it is being deployed. We also discuss the plans for the future developments both in the short and long term.
