description The technological challenges of the LHC and other CERN based experiments require a flexible and ever changing infrastructure. The construction, maintenance and modification of the CERN facilities are performed by the Management and Works section of the TS Civil Engineering Group. The variety and difficulty of many of our challenges can be seen from the case studies presented from past projects and current activities. The transition from the construction phase of the LHC to operations represents a major change to the way we will work in the future. Here we present some of the preparations we are making for the running phase of the LHC which will allow us to continue the upkeep of the CERN infrastructure and respond to client demands throughout CERN.
