Proposal for the award of two contracts for the supply of liquid-helium storage tanks for the LHC

This document concerns the award of two contracts for the supply of liquid-helium storage tanks for the LHC. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of contracts for the supply of liquid-helium storage tanks with: GARDNER CRYOGENICS (US), the lowest bidder at the opening of the tenders, for the supply of one 127 000 litre liquid-helium storage tank for a total amount of 1 227 655 Swiss francs, not subject to revision, with an option for up to three additional liquid-helium storage tanks, for a maximum additional amount of 3 682 965 Swiss francs, not subject to revision, bringing the total amount to 4 910 620 Swiss francs, not subject to revision; CRYO (SE), the second lowest bidder at the opening of the tenders, for the supply of one 121 000 litre liquid-helium storage tank for a total amount of 7 157 557 Swedish kronor (1 215 205 Swiss francs), not subject to revision, with an option for up to three additional liquid helium storage tanks, for a maximum additional amount of 21 472 671 Swedish kronor (3 645 615 Swiss francs), not subject to revision, bringing the total amount to 28 630 228 Swedish kronor (4 860 820 Swiss francs), not subject to revision. The rate of exchange used is that stipulated in the tender.
