description The charged Higgs boson simulation studies for charged Higgs boson searches with ATLAS are presented. The focus is on new developments since cHarged06. Since then, the first studies with a realistic detector simulation for the most important charged Higgs boson channels have been carried out, including all trigger levels and taking the dominant systematic uncertainties into account. These studies deal both with low-mass (mH+ < mtop) and high-mass H+, with a consistent treatment of the transition region. Analysis techniques and their largest challenges are discussed. The ATLAS H+ sensitivity is presented in terms of discovery and exclusion contours, and eventually a brief outlook on the LHC data-taking era is given.
