$B^{\pm} \to D^{0}/D^{0}-bar(K_{s} \pi^{+} \pi^{-})K^{\pm}$ selection studies at LHCb

Sumario: | The selection efficiency and the background estimates for the B+- -> D0/D0-bar(ks pi+ pi-)K+- decay are updated from DC04 Monte Carlo simulations to the latest simulations of DC06. At an integrated luminosity of 2 fb-1 the expected signal annual yield from DC06 is comparable to DC04. A detailed study of the background has been performed with background to signal estimates made on the previously identified phase-space combinatoric, D-pi and DK-random backgrounds and the addition of two newly identified DK-signal and Dstar backgrounds. Modifications to the offline selection significantly reduce the D-pi background; the dominant background for the DC06 study is the DK-random and the phase-space combinatoric, with the latter being limited by the available statistics. |
