Towards a Measurement of the Inclusive \Wev~ and $\gammaZee$ ~Cross Sections in pp Collisions at \rts~=~14 TeV.

We investigate methods for an early measurement of the inclusive W and \gammaZ ~production cross sections in the electron decay channel, assuming 10 \pbinv ~of ~pp~ collision data at \rts = 14 TeV. We employ a simple and robust electron selection to cope with the anticipated imperfections in calibration and alignment of the CMS detector with early data. We present a method to determine electron selection efficiencies from the data and a way to estimate the QCD background in the W sample.
