ATLAS and CMS are general purpose detectors under construction for the LHC. The detector performance and the prospects for discoveries are studied in various physics working groups. In this talk, I will discuss the determination of the properties of a Higgs-like particle to establish its nature, once such a particle is discovered at the LHC.
