description | The overall functionality and performance of the muon trigger system with respect to data produced as part of the ATLAS Computing System Commissioning effort is described. The physics performance in terms of trigger efficiency and accepted rates is studied for the muon inclusive signatures for different luminosity scenarios. Dedicated studies on physics samples with single and double muon final states are also performed in order to evaluate the trigger efficiencies on realistic data and background rejection capabilities. Methods to evaluate muon trigger efficiencies from real data are discussed. Furthermore, strategies to use the ATLAS calorimeters to tag and select isolated muons are presented. |
