Sumario:The heavy ion collisions at LHC, will explore properties of hot and dense QCD form of matter at collision energy thirty times larger than energy available at RHIC. ATLAS is one of three experiments participating in Heavy Ion program beside CMS and ALICE. Monte Carlo simulation show ATLAS capabilities to probe global observables like charged particle pseudo-rapidity densities, elliptic flow or total transverse energy. Performance of high granularity calorimeters, silicon tracking detectors and muon spectrometers used to study jets, photons and quarkonia in Pb+Pb collisions is presented.
