Sumario: | In this note we discuss the performance of two cut-based approaches for the identification of $\tau$ leptons based on studies using Monte Carlo samples with $E_\mathrm{CM}= 14$ TeV. For analysis with the first 10-500 pb$^{-1}$ of data, these cut-based approaches use only variables that can be well understood during the early data-taking period. The calorimeter-based approach uses only variables calculated from energy deposits in the calorimeters, and a calorimeter+track-based approach uses variables based on tracking information in addition to the calorimeter variables. The performance of these approaches in terms of efficiency and rejection against jets also presented. |
