Ultra-Peripheral Collisions in PHENIX

Ultra-peripheral nuclei collisions provide means to study photon-induced interactions in a nuclear environment. We discuss the PHENIX collaboration results on J/ and e+e− photoproduction in Au+Au ultra-peripheral collisions at psNN = 200 GeV [1, 2]. Their production cross-section and transverse mome...

Sumario:Ultra-peripheral nuclei collisions provide means to study photon-induced interactions in a nuclear environment. We discuss the PHENIX collaboration results on J/ and e+e− photoproduction in Au+Au ultra-peripheral collisions at psNN = 200 GeV [1, 2]. Their production cross-section and transverse momentum spectra are presented. The results are compared and found to be consistent with various theoretical calculations.
