Prospects for Kaluza-Klein Excitations Search in the Di-Lepton Channel at the LHC

description Based on the Kaluza-Klein (KK) theory and extra heavy boson models, we have studied the possibility to explore the consequences of those theories at the LHC experiments. We focused on KK excitations of SU(2)×U(1) gauge fields in extra dimensions when the fermions and the SU(3) gauge Bosons are localized in the 3d brane. Alternatively, we consider the possibility of existence of an extra heavy boson Z’ coming from breaking the E6 groups. By looking at the di-lepton invariant mass and the forward-backward asymmetry of the neutral Drell-Yan process pp to l+l−(X) we studied the differences between Z* (KK Z0 excitations) and Z’. We calculated the upper limits of resonance mass which can be discovered or excluded at the LHC with integrated luminosity of 10fb−1, expected for the first year of LHC operation. In additional, we studied the sensitivity of various methods to distinguish between Z* and Z’ and between different Z’ models.
