Sumario: | In the context of high-energy physics collider experiments, calorimetry (energy measurement) plays an important role in identifying particles. Signals from calorimeters have good energy resolution and integrity. However, some interesting particles do interact weakly with detectors and detection performance is thus greatly reduced. This work presents the design of a receiver system for a highly segmented calorimeter, aiming at identifying particles under low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) conditions. In order to increase the SNR of the system, signals are topologically grouped together and different detection techniques are employed. Results from both threshold discriminator and an approximation of the matched filter are evaluated from experimental data. |
