Reconstruction of jets from tracks in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energy √s = 900 GeV with the ATLAS detector

Basic properties of jets reconstructed from tracks measured in the ATLAS 2009 run at √s = 900 GeV are presented. The measurement of these track jets, reconstructed from charged particle tracks measured by the ATLAS Inner Detector, provides a complement to calorimeter-based measurements. Distribution...

description Basic properties of jets reconstructed from tracks measured in the ATLAS 2009 run at √s = 900 GeV are presented. The measurement of these track jets, reconstructed from charged particle tracks measured by the ATLAS Inner Detector, provides a complement to calorimeter-based measurements. Distributions of uncorrected track jet momentum and pseudorapidity, along with $\Delta\phi$ between track jets in events with 2 or more jets, are compared to results from PYTHIA Monte Carlo event generation with GEANT 4 simulation of the ATLAS detector and standard track reconstruction applied. Good agreement is found between data and Monte Carlo simulation for all distributions.
