Sumario: | The understanding of the background to the LHC experiments induced by the machine is important to maximising the performance of the collider. The background environment is complex, with contributions from beam-gas interactions around the ring, the halo collimation system and cross talk from one experiment to another. In this note, the background rates for ALICE beam 1 are calculated for nominal beam energy and 1/3 nominal current, including all of the large sources, and the relative background composition discussed. |
