Heavy ion physics in CMS experiment at the LHC

We review the capabilities of the CMS experiment to measure various observables in Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC, including elliptic flow, jet quenching, J/psi and Upsilon production. The results are based on full simulation studies using the Monte-Carlo event generator HYDJET.
