The results are compared to both leading-order QCD and an empirical scaling of different collision energies with \mbox{$x_T\equiv2p_T/\sqrt{s}$} over the $p_T$ range up to 140 GeV/c. These measurements also provide an invaluable reference for studying high-$p_{T}$ particle suppression in the dense QCD medium produced in the collisions of heavy ions.
