Furthermore, they provide a baseline reference for quark-gluon-plasma studies in Pb-Pb collisions. We will present the experimental capabilities of the ALICE electromagnetic calorimeter EMCal to reconstruct the direct and isolated photon spectra in p-p and Pb-Pb collisions.
