Radiative pi$^{+}$p scattering and the magnetic moment of the DELTA$^{++}$

The size of the peak expected in pion-proton bremsstrahlung in the region of the Delta /sup ++/ resonance is calculated using an unambiguous low-energy theorem. The only unknown parameter is the magnetic moment of the resonance. From the absence of any resonant structure in the data one obtains for...

description The size of the peak expected in pion-proton bremsstrahlung in the region of the Delta /sup ++/ resonance is calculated using an unambiguous low-energy theorem. The only unknown parameter is the magnetic moment of the resonance. From the absence of any resonant structure in the data one obtains for it mu /sub delta /=3.7+or-1.4 in units 2eh(cross)/2M/sub Delta /c. This is in excellent agreement with the SU(6) prediction mu /sub Delta /=3.66. (16 refs).
