Nuclear shape isomerism in $^{185}$Hg detected by laser spectroscopy
Laser spectroscopy has been applied to /sup 191-185/Hg/sup m/ at the on-line mass separator ISOLDE/CERN. For /sup 185/Hg a huge isomer shift has been found, which is caused by the coexistence of slightly deformed oblate and strongly deformed prolate shapes. (13 refs).
