Sumario: | Following the work in photon imaging cameras, a method has been developed to extend the use of large volume drift chambers to electromagnetic shower detectors. The converter is a laminated stack of perforated metal sheets, separated by thin insulating layers. The receiving chamber is a multiwire proportional chamber with cathode strip readout. The position and energy deposit of the showering particle is recorded. (10 refs). |
