description High transverse momentum jets are excellent probes for new physics at the highest scale reachable at the LHC. One of the most important sources of systematics in the search for new physics is the jet energy scale uncertainty. The scale of jet transverse momentum (pT) can be assessed in-situ using the $p_T$ balance constraint in events with a photons recoiling against jet at high transverse momentum and jet events. With the present available integrated luminosity of about 38 pb**-1 the absolute transverse momentum of jets is probed up to a few hundred GeV. The multi-jet balance technique allows to extend the in-situ test up to the TeV-scale using the abundant multi-jet events. The jet transverse momentum in data is described by the Monte Carlo simulation within 5% up to pT = 1 TeV for jets in the rapidity region |y|<2.8.
