Search for the Standard Model Higgs boson in the decay channel $H \rightarrow ZZ^{(*)} \rightarrow 4l$ with 40 pb$^{-1}$ of pp collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 7$ TeV

This note presents the search for a Standard Model Higgs boson in the channel $H \rightarrow ZZ^{(*)} \rightarrow 4l$ using 40 pb~$^{-1}$ of pp collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment in 2010. No candidate events are observed in the current data. Upper limits on the Standard Model Higgs pro...

description This note presents the search for a Standard Model Higgs boson in the channel $H \rightarrow ZZ^{(*)} \rightarrow 4l$ using 40 pb~$^{-1}$ of pp collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment in 2010. No candidate events are observed in the current data. Upper limits on the Standard Model Higgs production cross section are extracted as a function of the Higgs mass in the mass range 130 to 600 GeV. In addition, data-driven background estimation techniques are described and the results are found to be in agreement with the Monte Carlo predictions.
