Sumario:A survey is given of recent studies that indicate that the possibility of achieving polarised electron/positron beams in the LEP storage ring is more favourable than hitherto expected, provided certain precautions are taken in the design and construction of the machine. Polarised beams at energies up to about 50 GeV appear to be feasible with known techniques; at 90 GeV the situation is more uncertain and special measures, such as Siberian Snakes, may be necessary. The physics community is urged to keep spin physics under constant review and to ensure that the appropriate priorities are maintained for its implementation.
