Search for Higgs Boson Production in $pp$ Collisions at sqrt{s}=7 TeV using the H->WW->lvqq Decay Channel and the ATLAS Detector

description A search for the Higgs boson in the H->WW->lvqq decay mode has been performed using 35 pb^-1 of 7 TeV proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector during the 2010 run of the LHC. Since no significant excess is observed over the expected background, limits on the Higgs production cross section are derived for masses between mH=200 GeV and mH=600 GeV. For a Higgs boson mass mH=400 GeV, the 95% confidence level upper bound on the cross-section for Higgs boson production by gluon fusion times the branching ratio for H->WW is 13.6 pb, or approximately 11.5 times the Standard Model prediction.
