Contributions from higher twist effects to the quark fragmentation functions in neutrino data

Studies quark fragmentation functions using approximately 3500 charged current events induced in the bubble chamber Gargamelle from neutrinos of the SPS wide band guide beam, having (E/sub v/) approximately=25 Ge V. The Q/sup 2/ region covered by this experiment is Q/sup 2/=0-40 GeV /sup 2/, the mea...

description Studies quark fragmentation functions using approximately 3500 charged current events induced in the bubble chamber Gargamelle from neutrinos of the SPS wide band guide beam, having (E/sub v/) approximately=25 Ge V. The Q/sup 2/ region covered by this experiment is Q/sup 2/=0-40 GeV /sup 2/, the mean value being (Q/sup 2/) approximately=7.5 GeV/sup 2/. Possible contributions from higher twist effects are looked for in the n-th moments M/sup NS/(n, Q/sup 2/) of fragmentation functions, and are found to be large and strongly dependent on n. A correlation between the variables z=E/sub pi //E/sub H/ and y=E/sub H//E/sub nu / was found in the data in the region Q/sup 2/=1-10 GeV/sup 2/, which could be explained in terms of higher twist effects.
