Sumario: | Microscopic black holes are searched for in multi-jet final states in proton-prot on collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. The collision data collected by the ATLAS detectorin 2010 at a centre of mass energy of 7 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35 pb−1 , are used in the search. After all selection requirements, the data are consistent with Standard Model predictions. An upper limit at the 95% confidence level on the cross section times acceptance of 0.29 pb for states with more than four jets and a scalar sum of jet transverse momentum above 2 TeV is determined. Using a model for black hole production and decay, lower limits on the fundamental Planck scale versus mass threshold for different numbers of extra dimensions are obtained. |
