Sumario:From March until November 2010 the Compact Muon Solenoid experiment recorded 36 pb^-1 of pp collisions at ps = 7 TeV. One of the rst precision tests of the Standard Model that can be performed with this data is the measurement of the W-production cross section and the charge asymmetry in the cross section. In this thesis, both measurements are performed in the electron decay channel. The results obtained are: \sigma(W \rightarrow e\nu) = 10.48 \pm 0.03(stat.) \pm 0:15(syst.) \pm 0.09(th.) \pm 0.42(lumi.)nb \sigma(W^+ \rightarrow e^+\nu)/\sigma(W \rightarrow ! e^-\bar{\nu}) = 1.430 \pm 0.008(stat.) \pm 0.022(syst.) \pm 0.029(th.) The measurements agree with state-of-the-art NNLO QCD calculations with the lat- est parton distribution functions.
