description | The measurement of muon momentum is affected by our reconstruction capability and our limited knowledge of the physical configuration of the detector.
It is possible to correct for these effects and estimate the remaining systematics using well known resonances (J /psi, Y, Z) to calibrate the muon momentum scale.
The proposed method relies on using a multivariate likelihood approach to determine the scale corrections and the momentum resolution, as a function of the muon kinematics variables.
In this contribution emphasis is given to the interpretation of the correction function in terms of known detector effects (misalignment of the detector geometry, magnetic field distorsions, incorrect description of material budget, etc...).
Finally the impact of the remaining uncertainity on the measurement of the production cross section of the resonances will be discussed. |
