Sumario: | We discuss in this paper the challenge of transmitting isolated LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) pulses over long cables (L > 40m). A safe approach is developed paying special care in the choice of the components used at the different stages of the data transmission. In each step, starting from the signal generation, then facing the propagation through the cable and finally addressing the signal detection at the far end, we tried to preserve the signal shape, while reducing the sources of the signal attenuation and distortion. Two different approaches for a successful data transmission are discussed, both allowing a safe performance. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. |
