Risk analysis for Linac 2 vacuum system

Linac 2 is presently supposed to remain the primary proton source to the entire CERN accelerator complex until 2017/18. The past, present, and future operation of the vacuum system has been recently reviewed [1]. During the last 33 years of operation the linac has developed several weaknesses including vacuum leaks, a major one being discovered in 2006 on tank 3. This note presents a risk analysis for the vacuum system with a focus on the vacuum sector comprising the three RF tanks.
