Search for the rare decay $B^{0}_{s} \to \mu^{+}\mu^{-}$ at the LHC with the CMS and LHCb experiments

A combination of the results of the search for the decay $B^{0}_{s} \to \mu^{+}\mu^{-}$ is performed using about 0.34 fb$^{-1}$ and 1.14 fb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV, collected by the LHCb and CMS experiments, respectively, at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Sumario:A combination of the results of the search for the decay $B^{0}_{s} \to \mu^{+}\mu^{-}$ is performed using about 0.34 fb$^{-1}$ and 1.14 fb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV, collected by the LHCb and CMS experiments, respectively, at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. The observed candidates in both experiments are consistent with the expectation from the sum of backgrounds and Standard Model signal. The combination results in an upper limit on the branching ratio, $B(B^{0}_{s} \to \mu^{+}\mu^{-} < 1.08 \times 10^{-8}$ at 95 % confidence level.
