description COMPASS is a multi-purpose fixed-target experiment at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron aimed at studying the structure and spectrum of hadrons. One primary goal is the search for new hadronic states, in particular spin-exotic mesons and glueballs. We present recent results of partial-wave analyses of (3$\pi$)$^{-}$ and $\pi^{-}\eta'$ final states based on a large data set of diffractive dissociation of a 190 GeV/c $\pi^{-}$ beam on a proton target in the squared four-momentum-transfer range 0.1 $< t' <$ 1 (GeV/c)$^{2}$. We also show first results from a partial-wave analysis of diffractive dissociation of $K^{-}$ into $K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ final states are presented.
