Sumario: | The use of the tau leptons in the Standard Model processes and in channels probing for Physics beyond the Standard Model is very important at the LHC. These processes include top pair production, heavy mass resonances and decays of supersymmetric particles. In the selection of such rare events of interest, the hadronic tau trigger plays a fundamental role. It allows efficient collection of the desired signal events, while keeping the rate of background events within the allowed bandwidth. In this contribution we will summarise the status and performance of the ATLAS tau trigger system during 2011 data taking period, emphasising the key elements of the online selection. Different methods explored to obtain the trigger efficiency curves from data will be shown. Finally, the status of the measurements, which include tau leptons in the final state, will be summarised. In the end the future prospects, in light of the huge statistics accumulated in 2011, will be presented. |
