description TaCo, the Tuner-adjustable waveguide Coupler, is a handy modification of the T-type waveguide coupler: A single slug tuner is integrated directly into the coupler to vary the cavity-to-waveguide coupling. The novel coupler design is analysed in detail and optimised for a WR2300 waveguide and 352 MHz cavities, offering significant advantages for production and RF tuning. Different simulation methods have been employed, among them a simple waveguide model suited for quick optimisation runs. A test coupler has been designed, measured and high power tested.
