description Recent results concerned with forward and diffractive physics measured by the ATLAS detector at the CERN LHC facility are presented. Specifically the inclusive jet and dijet cross sections, the forward rapidity gap cross section and the measurement of dijet production with a central jet veto are discussed. The inclusive jet and dijet cross sections are measured and compared to expectations based on next-to-leading-order QCD. The inelastic cross section is measured as a function of the size of a forward rapidity gap, which for large gap-sizes is dominated by diffractive dissociation. Finally, the dijet-plus-jet-veto analysis measures the additional jet activity in dijet systems that span a large rapidity interval, probing small-x dynamics.
