description | In this note a selection of searches for physics beyond the standard model with photons in the final states, performed using using 36\,pb$^{-1}$ of data collected in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7$\,TeV at the LHC with the CMS detector, is presented. Common issues related to the reconstruction of photons coming from potential new physics signal are outlined, followed by three examples of searches with the early data. No evident hints of effects beyond the standard model show up. As a consequence, limits on the parameters of models for excited leptons, strong gravity, and warped extra-dimensions are derived. Most of limits presented in this note are the most stringent to date. |
