Sumario: | In order to prevent multipacting when using high-intensity beams, the application of amorphous carbon coatings is under consideration. To investigate the efficiency of the coatings to suppress electron cloud, a test stand for provoking multipacting has been set up using stand-alone SPS dipoles. This note gives a basic overview of the experimental set-up and a description of the measurement procedures. All the experiments that have been made with this set-up so far, encountered problems and their (possible) solutions are included. |
