Real time algorithms in the ATLAS tau trigger system at 7 TeV center of mass energy

The ATLAS tau trigger plays an important role in many real data analyses. Among these analyses is the search for $H ightarrow au^{+} au^{-}$, or exotic analyses such as the $H^{pm}$ or $W'$ and $Z'$ in the tau decay channel. Therefore providing a sufficiently large QCD (multi)jet rejection while having a high signal efficiency, and at the same time understanding the systematics of the tau trigger, those are the challenges that need to be faced. This paper summarizes the performance of the tau trigger on real data during the 2011 data taking at the ATLAS detector. Good understanding of the tau trigger is presented.
