Search for Second Generation Scalar Leptoquarks

This note describes a search for pair production of second generation scalar leptoquarks ($LQ$) with a final state of either two muons and two jets, or one muon, one neutrino and two jets. description This note describes a search for pair production of second generation scalar leptoquarks ($LQ$) with a final state of either two muons and two jets, or one muon, one neutrino and two jets. We use $pp$ collision data collected at $\sqrt{s}= 7$~TeV by the CMS detector, corresponding to {$2.0$~fb$^{-1}$} of integrated luminosity. We set a 95\%~CL limit on the second generation scalar leptoquark $\sigma \times \beta^2$ or $\sigma \times 2\beta(1-\beta)$, where $\sigma$ is LQ production cross section and $\beta$ is the branching fraction $LQ \to \mu q$. We exclude leptoquarks with masses below 632(523)~GeV for $\beta = 1(0.5)$, where $\beta$ is the branching fraction of $LQ\rightarrow \mu\mbox{q}$.
